Installing QX-Tools 4.0
By default, the installer will place the QX-Tools XTensions in your XTension folder for QuarkXPress 4.0.3.
Serializing and Registering QX-Tools 4.0
After launching QuarkXPress, you will be requested to serialize and register the software. Please enter the serial number located on the back of the manual. If you do not have a serial number, you can choose to run QX-Tools in demo mode; demo mode allows full functionality for 30 days. Please register using one of the built-in electronic registration methods.
Microtek Scanners - Macintosh
Microtek scanners may interfere with the built-in electronic registration process. If you are using a Microtek scanner, please turn it off before attempting to register QX-Tools. You may turn the scanner back on once the registration process is complete.

Notes to Upgrading Users and Compatibility Comments
If you are using QX-Tools 2.0.x, you will note that the Installer moves all but QX-Bars to a "Removed QX-Tools Items" folder inside your QuarkXPress folder. Extensis recommends that you use QX-Tools 4.0 exclusively and not mix QX-Tools 2.0.1 and QX-Tools 4.0 components in QuarkXPress 4.0. Extensis does not guarantee compatibility between these two versions. QX-Bars from the QX-Tools 2.0.1 collection has been tested and will work with QX-Tools 4.0.
Please refer to the "QX-Tools Compatibility Notes" file located in the "Removed QX-Tools Items" folder for more information about QX-Tools 2.0.x compatibility

Technical Notes
* If you use PickUpSpot XT earlier than version 2.5.1, please note that there is an incompatibility with earlier versions of PickUpSpot and QuarkXPress 4.0. Please visit http://www.adeptsolutions.com/ for more information on updating your version of PickUpSpot.
* If you are using Alap XPertTools, please make sure you are using the QuarkXPress 4.0 compatible versions of these XTensions. There may be incompatibilities with earlier versions and QX-Tools 4.0
* QX-Scaler does not scale QuarkXPress default tab stops. You need to set tab stops in your document if you want them to scale.
* When importing complicated Bézier shapes using QX-VectorEdit you may notice the image on the screen looks "jaggy." This is normal. QuarkXPress does not display the full representation of the shapes. However, the printed version of the same shapes will be in full detail.
* You can enter page ranges in QX-VectorEdit. Type in the first page number followed by a dash and then the ending page number. Please note, QX-VectorEdit is designed to import artwork, not translate documents. Extensis does not recommend importing ranges of pages.
* If you are importing PDF files that contain grayscale TIFF images, please make sure the PDF was created using Medium/Low or Low compression for the grayscale images via Distiller's Job Options:Compression area. You will notice striping and possibly inverted images if Distiller's grayscale compression settings are set to Medium, Med/High or High.
* QX-VectorEdit does not support the PDF Writer extension/driver for making and importing PDF files. Please use Distiller before attempting to use QX-VectorEdit for importing.
* QX-FindChange does not support the display of Cool Blends blends in the blend pop-up menus.
4.0.1 Changes
* Several customers reported QuarkXPress refusing to load QX-Tools 4.0. This problem has been fixed in this version 4.0.1 release.
